Extended Care

EXTENDED CARE AT ST. PETER

Before school, after school, and all summer long.

St. Peter offers extended care programs designed to give your family flexibility and your child a safe, supervised, and engaging environment beyond regular school hours. Whether you need before and after school care during the school year or a summer program your child will look forward to, we have you covered.

KID CARE

Before and after school options for your child.

Kid Care provides before and after school care for enrolled St. Peter students throughout the school year. Your child is in a safe, supervised environment—on campus, with familiar staff, and never far from the community they already know.

What days and hours do you offer Kid Care?
Kid Care is available before school from 7:00 to 7:30 AM and from dismissal until 6:00 PM.

Kid Care is available on select non-school days, including Columbus Day, Christmas break (excluding Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve), teacher in-service days, and Presidents' Day. Advanced registration and a minimum enrollment of 10 students is required.

Kid Care follows District 54 for emergency closings. We notify families of any unscheduled closings by email, text, and phone.
Who can participate in Kid Care?
Kid Care is available to all students currently enrolled at St. Peter Lutheran School.
How much does Kid Care cost?
Before school care is a flat fee of $6.00 per morning. After school care is $6.00 per half hour. There is no minimum day or hour requirement. You are only charged for the care your child uses. When Kid Care is available on non-school days, the cost is a flat daily fee of $55.00. All fees are paid via automatic bank withdrawal on the Wednesday following the week of care. An annual registration fee of $70.00 is required for the first student, with a $50.00 registration fee for each additional student. The registration fee is non-refundable. A late pick-up fee of $1.00 per minute applies after 6:00 PM.
What does pickup and drop off look like?
For morning care, parents check their students in with Mrs. Lewinski in Room 206 and are assisted to their classrooms when school begins. After school, students are logged in by Kid Care staff at dismissal. When picking up your student, please ring the doorbell at the front door. A staff member will bring your student to you. If Kid Care is at the playground when you arrive, please pick up your student directly there. During colder months, you may call the Kid Care phone number at (847) 989-7441 for pickup assistance. A photo ID may be required for checkout.
Does Kid Care provide lunch or snacks?
We provide one snack for students on school days. On half days and non-school days, students must bring their own lunch and a drink. We will provide two snacks on non-school days. St. Peter is a nut-free environment, so please do not send snacks or lunch containing peanuts or tree nuts with your student. Students are encouraged to bring a water bottle each day.
How do I register for Kid Care?
Kid Care is open to all currently enrolled St. Peter students. Contact our office to get started.

Meet our Kid Care staff.

Whether dropping your child off before school or picking them up at the end of a long day, you will see the same familiar, caring faces. Our staff knows your child by name and genuinely loves being here. At St. Peter, Kid Care is an extension of the same community your child experiences in the classroom every day.

STAY & PLAY

More time to play.

Stay & Play gives half-day preschool students the chance to keep the fun going after class with lunch, structured activities, and plenty of free play. It’s a gentle way to extend your child’s school day, build social connections, and help them prepare for the longer days ahead. And it gives you a little more breathing room in your morning.

What days and hours is Stay & Play available?
Stay & Play meets every Monday and Wednesday from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM in the Red School downstairs playroom, which includes a full kitchen. You choose how many hours work best for your child, with a one-hour minimum.
Who can participate in Stay & Play?
Stay & Play is available to half-day preschool students at St. Peter. It's designed specifically to extend the school day for younger learners in a comfortable, familiar setting with staff they already know.
How much does Stay & Play cost?
The program is $12 per hour.
Do I need to pack my child a lunch?
Yes, pack your child a nut-free lunch. Snacks and meals are not provided, though cooking activities are occasionally part of the fun.
What activities do you offer?
Every session is a little different, but activities include free choice playtime, sensory play, crafts and art, dancing, cooking and experiments, story time, and extra playground time. Mrs. Flasch also brings surprises from her personal collection of fun gadgets and activities.
How do I sign up?
Contact Mrs. Carla Flasch directly at cflasch@stpeterlcms.org to arrange participation. For planning purposes, please sign up by the afternoon of the prior day. Same-day registration is not available.

SUMMER DAZE

Make summer something to look forward to.

Summer Daze is our summer care program, open to children ages 3 through 12 years. Running from late May through early August, each week features a different theme to give children something to look forward to all summer long. Summer Daze is supervised by caring St. Peter staff in an environment familiar to your child.

Frequently Asked Questions

Summer Daze is a safe, fun environment for your child. From the end of the school year to the first week in August, we offer theme weeks to keep your child engaged all summer. Activities are a blend of at-school events and out-of-school field trips. If you have additional questions, we’re here to answer them.

Can I choose which days or weeks I send my child to Summer Daze?
Yes! While you have to register for the program as a whole, you choose when your child attends. You can send your child anywhere between 0 and 5 days per week. You are only charged for the actual days of attendance. If your child doesn't attend for a whole week, you will not receive a statement or be charged a fee for that week.
How does billing work?
We use an ID card system to track your child's attendance. For 6 hours or less, you will be charged a half day rate of $45. If attending more than 6 hours, the full day rate is $55.

There is no additional charge for water days. For off-site field trips or special events, we charge an additional fee of $13 per event.

Statements are issued each Monday following the week attended. The fees are then automatically withdrawn each Wednesday using the account you provided.
How do I enroll my child in Summer Daze?
If your child is enrolling in St. Peter for the upcoming school year, complete school enrollment first. Summer Daze can be added by the office when you complete the school finance packet without any additional forms. If you have already completed the re-enrollment process, contact the office to add Summer Daze to your enrollment.

If your child will attend Summer Daze only and is not enrolled during the school year, use the Summer Daze registration link posted when registration is open.

Questions? Contact Summer Daze director Jennie Lewinski at jlewinski@stpeterlcms.org.
What does a typical day look like?
From 7:00 to 9:00 AM children gather in the cafeteria for free choice activities and morning projects. At 9:00, children have a snack and split into age groups. From 9:30 to 11:00, each group has recess and a morning project. At 11:00 everyone comes together for lunch. The afternoon includes recess, free time, projects, and gym time, with a rest period for preschool-age children. All groups come together again at 3:00 for an afternoon snack, followed by group activities through 6:00 PM.

Tuesdays are typically water days, when weather permits. Children may wear a swimsuit and play in sprinklers and splash equipment, or participate in outdoor play if they prefer to stay dry.

During the third week of June, children attend Vacation Bible School at St. Peter Lutheran Church as a group. Normal Summer Daze hours and fees apply that week.
Do I need to pack snacks and lunches?
Two snacks are provided daily: one at 9:00 AM and one at 3:00 PM. Children who arrive after 9:00 or are picked up before 3:00 will not receive that snack. Families are welcome to send their own snacks if preferred. There is no lunch program during Summer Daze, so please pack a lunch and water bottle for your child daily.

St. Peter is a nut-free environment, so please do not send snacks or lunch containing peanuts or tree nuts with your student.
Is religion part of your summer program?
While structured religious instruction is not part of our Summer Daze program, our faith is part of who we are. We pray daily before and after lunch.

In mid-June, we participate as a group in St. Peter Lutheran Church's week-long Vacation Bible School. We are still open from 7 AM to 6 PM that week, and you can still drop off and pick up at any time. Normal fees apply, and the check in and check out process is the same.
